Today, I will briefly introduce the characteristics of three materials used in vacuum cups and the scenarios they are suitable for. There is also 316 stainless steel material, and of course, the commonly purchased 316L material.

1. 304 material

304 material is a relatively common stainless steel, and it is also a common stainless steel for household use on the market. This stainless steel material offers high cost performance and is affordable. For ordinary household use, it can basically meet the needs, but its corrosion resistance and acid-alkali resistance are slightly inferior.

2. 316 stainless steel material

316 stainless steel is a higher-end material compared to 304 stainless steel. This type of stainless steel has better quality. Generally, 316 material is better for vacuum cups, as it excels in terms of acid and alkali resistance and corrosion resistance. However, its price is definitely higher than that of 304 stainless steel. It is considered a food-grade high-quality stainless steel. When using vacuum cups, it is recommended to choose 316 stainless steel.

3. 316L stainless steel

316L stainless steel is of a higher grade than traditional 316 stainless steel. This type of stainless steel typically contains ultra-low carbon and excels in both corrosion resistance and acid-alkali resistance. Relatively speaking, this stainless steel is more commonly used in medical-grade applications due to its excellent material quality. It is indeed superior to 316 stainless steel, but it is also more expensive. Using 316L stainless steel for household purposes may be a bit wasteful.

As a consumer, which material is better for buying a vacuum cup?

If you’re looking for a cheaper vacuum cup, opting for 304 material is fine. However, if you desire a higher-quality vacuum cup, 316 material is the way to go. The 316L material, which is more resistant to corrosion and acid-alkali, tends to be pricier, and its cost-effectiveness may not stand out.

Moreover, although some vacuum cups are labeled as made of 316L stainless steel, is it really made of 316L material? If it is made of high-quality vacuum cup material, 316L stainless steel should comply with the national standard GB 4806.9-2023, which is the latest standard for 316L material in vacuum cups. If it is really made of 316L material, the standard label should be included in the standard. If not, it is not a vacuum cup made of 316L material.
