Did you use your thermos correctly

Table of Contents

A thermos is not simply a container for “hot water”. Its core contains the principle of physical insulation. Choosing and using it correctly can make the warmth last longer and avoid health hazards

The “insulation secret” of thermos cups: double-layer vacuum is the key

The thermos cup can lock the temperature for a long time, thanks to the design of double-layer stainless steel inner liner and vacuum interlayer: the inner liner and outer liner are evacuated to reduce air convection and heat conduction (heat cannot be transferred through vacuum); At the same time, the inner wall of the inner liner usually has a mirror coating, which can reflect thermal radiation and prevent heat from dissipating outward. Simply put, the vacuum layer is like a “thermal barrier”, and the mirror coating is like a “reflector”. The combination of the two prevents the heat of hot water from “escaping” and the cold air of cold water from “entering”.

Misunderstanding: These practices will ruin the thermos cup

Do not immediately tighten the lid after adding freshly boiled water: High temperatures can increase the pressure inside the cup, which may cause splashing and burns when opening the lid. It is recommended to open the lid and let it dry for 30 seconds before tightening.

• Avoid prolonged consumption of acidic/alkaline beverages: Vinegar, lemon juice, traditional Chinese medicine, etc. can corrode the coating of the inner container, reduce insulation, and may release harmful substances. It is necessary to clean it promptly after consumption.

Do not use detergent to vigorously scrub the inner liner: detergent residue may breed bacteria, and a hard brush may scratch the mirror coating. It is recommended to gently wipe with warm water and baking soda, rinse clean, and air dry.

Do not put it in the microwave/dishwasher: The metal material of the thermos cup can cause microwave failure, and the high temperature and impact force of the dishwasher can damage the sealing gasket and vacuum layer.

Maintenance tips: make the thermos cup “long lived” and hygienic

Before first use: Soak in warm water and salt for 30 minutes, then rinse with clean water to remove any impurities that may have remained during the production process.

After daily cleaning: Do not immediately tighten the lid, leave a gap for ventilation and drying to prevent mold growth in the cup (especially the sealing ring of the cup lid, which needs to be removed and cleaned regularly).

When not in use for a long time: After washing and drying, place a bag of desiccant in the cup, cover it with a lid, and store it in a dry and ventilated place to prevent the inner container from getting damp and rusting.
